How windy can it get in the desert???...enough to bend tent poles, concave a tent, and knock over furniture.

I hope you have those 3 foot long tent peg stakes!
They are hard to see but look for the 10-15 lb rocks on the corners of the tent. My tent pegs are small metal ones. Eventually, the wind died down. I took the rocks off the corners of the tent. Later that night the wind picked up and two ends of the tent popped out of the ground with me INSIDE the tent! I got out and reset the pegs and put the rocks back on the corners in the middle of the night.
Rocks in the desert?
